North West Scrambling Course
A North West scrambling course in Scotland is a thrilling and challenging adventure for experienced hillwalkers and mountaineers. This course is designed to improve your skills and confidence in navigating steep and exposed terrain, including rock climbs and narrow sections, in some of Scotland’s most scenic routes of the North West like Liathach and An Teallach.
We will liaise with you on what routes and mountains you wish to do so as to tailor the course entirely to you and your aims! We will then after discussion send you a google maps ping in an email of the most appropriate meeting place and time, this is likely to be in the region of 09:00 in the morning.
North West Scrambling Course Itinerary
The itinerary will depend on what route we select based off your aims, the weather and the conditions on the day.
We would normally aim to meet at the base of the venue at 09:00 where we would then head upon and spend the day on the mountain scrambling up the route of choice like Liathach. All the while taking in the stunning views on route stopping for lunch up on the mountain before heading back down

We pride ourselves on providing as much kit as possible for you. However, the list below is what we recommend you should bring to your North West Scrambling Course:
- Travel insurance. (We are insured for all our trips, but we recommend everyone has their own travel insurance as well.)
- Transportation to the venue. (We may be able to help with this though – if you need transportation please drop us an enquiry and we can see what we can do to help.)
- Lunch, water.
- Personal medication
- Sun cream, midge net
- Rucksack
- Warm layers
- Waterproofs
- Boots
- If you have your own harness and helmet feel free but we can provide these if not.
Here at Highland Outdoor Adventures, we pride ourselves on providing as much as we can but you are welcome to bring your own equipment if you do prefer. The list below is what we provide you with on the day.
- All instruction.
- All first aid and safety equipment.
- Photographs of the day provided for you at no extra cost! If the weather is good we will have a DSLR professional camera so we can take photos and videos of your adventure and you can look back at the day for years to come. If the weather is less favourable we will bring a GoPro (as it is waterproof) so we will still be able to take photos for you.
- Fully certified instructors who are members of AMI so you can rest assured they are recognised as amongst the best in the world.
