Zero To Hero SUP Course Overview
Paddling on Loch Insh and the River Spey is a fantastic way to experience the natural beauty of Scotland while enjoying the thrill of stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). Loch Insh is a freshwater loch located in the Cairngorms National Park and provides calm and tranquil waters for everyone (regardless of ability) to practice their SUP skills. The loch is surrounded by stunning mountainous with the Cairngorms on one side and the Monadhliath on the other; it offers a peaceful environment for paddlers to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Once participants have mastered their skills on the loch, they will progress to the River Spey. The river is one of Scotland’s most famous rivers, spanning 107 miles through the Cairngorm Mountains finishing at the Moray Firth. The river offers a range of conditions from gentle paddling to exciting rapids, making it a great place for all skill levels.
Participants on the Zero to Hero SUP course will experience the thrill of paddling through rapids and navigating the twists and turns of the river. The River Spey is also known for its abundant wildlife, including otters, eagles, and ospreys, making it an excellent location for nature enthusiasts.

Zero To Hero SUP Course Meeting Place
The easiest way to get here is either from Aviemore or Newtonmore – please follow the b9152 alongside the side of the A9 to Kincraig where you will find a sign to Loch Insh. Follow this road down under the bridge past the post office cafe and over the bridge of Loch Insh where you will shortly find the car park on your left after a couple of hundred metres. Please look out for the van branded with our logo’s on all sides. We will always get there early and try to park up prominently for you to see us.
