The one-day Learn to Lead Climb course in the Highlands of Scotland at Kingussie crag (a 15 minute drive from Aviemore) is an intensive program designed for climbers looking to expand their skills and become independent climbers. Led by experienced guides and instructors (who are members of AMI so you know they are certified as amongst the very best in the world), the course provides a mix of instruction and hands-on practice, allowing participants to build confidence and hone their skills to further their independence.

Throughout the day, participants will have the opportunity to climb on a variety of routes, with instructors providing guidance and feedback to ensure safety and success. By the end of the course, participants should have a good understanding of lead climbing techniques and be ready to tackle routes on their own in the future. Learn To Lead Climb Course Itinerary

Here is an itinerary for a one-day Learn to Lead Climb course in the Highlands of Scotland at Kingussie crag:

• Meet and greet with instructors and fellow climbers in Kingussie at 10:00
• Introduction to gear selection, placement and safety procedures
• Anchor building and rope management techniques
• Practice leading climbs on beginner to intermediate level routes appropriate to each person
• Lunch break
• Review and refinement of leading techniques
• Route Finding and logbook interpretation
• Wrap-up and review of the day’s progress

We pride ourselves on providing as much kit as possible for you.  However, the list below is what we recommend you should bring to your Learn To Lead Climb Course:

• Travel insurance. (We are insured for all our trips, but we recommend everyone has their own travel insurance as well.)
• Lunch, water.
• Personal medication
• Sun cream, midge net
• Waterproofs (it is Scotland after all)
• Climbing shoes

Here at Highland Outdoor Adventures, we pride ourselves on providing as much as we can but you are welcome to bring your own equipment if you do prefer. The list below is what we provide you with on the day.

• Transportation for 2 people. Pickup can be arranged from elsewhere if needed.
• Photographs of the day provided for you at no extra cost! If the weather is good we will have a DSLR professional camera  so we can take photos and videos of your adventure and you can look back at the day for years to come. If the weather is less favourable we will bring a GoPro (as it is waterproof) so we will still be able to take photos for you.
